Body-Mind Awareness
17:00 – 19:30

Awareness versus injury

or how through awareness and presence I can avoid injuries as I exercise or move.
The intention of the workshop is to open our attention to what we might call our "matter" and the way we relate to it. To awake, our proprioception, the sense of time and space, as we move.
The objective is to achieve, through experiential exercises and introspection, a short overview on physical structures such as bones, joints, fascia and energy pathways (meridians) that govern or otherwise describe these structures and their functions.
Simple daily practices will be given in order to cultivate our body mind awareness.

Amygdalia Xyneli was born in Athens. After she finished school studied music and political science. Through the study of music, she sensed that the body needed some kind of organization and education, which was missing in order to be expressive and effective. The path of exploration begins with, modern dance and Alexander Technique lessons. In 2002 she begins the three-year study of Shiatsu in Oriental Medicine & Shiatsu Training Centre. She attended several workshops on shiatsu and other alternative therapies (acupuncture, color acupuncture, Reiki, shamanic medicine wheel, Feldenkrais, etc.).
Fascinated by the healing effect of body movement in the water, she joined the Watsu Italia education program and now she is a WABA recognized Watsu (water- shiatsu) practitioner. Water in turn brought the study Fascia (Danis Bois method) and Zhineng Qigong, expanding the idea of fluid movement on land. She works practicing the arts that she is tracing, with synthetic and creative manner in order to achieve, harmony and integrity of the whole self.
